BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb volleyball team (12-16, 3-8 Big South) rebounded from a tough loss in the reverse meeting just a couple weeks ago, scoring a clutch 3-0 win over visiting Presbyterian (6-17, 2-9 Big South) on Saturday afternoonÂ
Gardner-Webb roared out of the gate in the first set, never trailing on its way to a 25-19 win. As she had been for the last couple weeks for GWU, junior outside hitter
Nicole Osborne helped set the tone early with three of the first six points of the day. Osborne would wind up with six kills just in the first set alone. Responding from last night's defeat to Charleston Southern, the Runnin' Bulldogs wouldn't let Presbyterian back into the contest, turning a 16-15 game quickly into a 19-15 lead then more. Five errors down the stretch sealed the deal on a 1-0 lead for Gardner-Webb
As with the first, Gardner-Webb mostly rolled and never trailed in a 25-21 second set win. Redshirt junior outside hitter
Serena Kohler followed up a big individual game on Friday night, recording five kills off the bench in the second set. After a 5-0 run got Presbyterian back within one at 21-20, Kohler put down her third, fourth and fifth kills to help re-extend the GWU lead to 23-21, just before the Dawgs closed out a 2-0 match lead
The third set was a different story, same outcome. Gardner-Webb rallied from down 13-5, and 19-13, eventually securing a sweep with a wild 28-26 win. The biggest sequence came via junior middle
Milla Lugo and sophomore outside hitter
Samia Sayd, with the duo combining for back to back block assists to flip the script. Freshman outside hitter
Haedyn Crumbley quickly rallied for two of her team-high 10 kills, giving Gardner-Webb a 23-22 lead. Osborne linked up with freshman middle
Madison DeMink for one last block to close out the match, and a 3-0 sweep for Gardner-Webb
LEADERS
Crumbley posted a team-high 10 kills with nine digs, redshirt freshman outside hitter
Alexis Maesch finished with eight kills, three digs, Osborne recorded eight kills to continue a strong individual run, sophomore outside hitter

FROM HEAD COACH ALEX HINSEY
Really proud of our team stepping up there, especially in that third set. We got down big but stuck to our game plan and they kept believing in themselves and each other, and really made some good decisions down the stretch
