Runnin' Bulldogs Season Comes To Close With Big South Quarterfinal Defeat at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team (4-11-3, 3-3-2 Big South) saw its 2025 season come to a close on Saturday evening, with the No. 5 seed Runnin' Bulldogs falling to No. 4 seed High Point (4-9-4, 3-3-2 Big South) in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals

The Runnin' Bulldogs started solid on Saturday afternoon in the program's first postseason appearance since 2022. Junior forward Olivia Tribolet looked lively early, firing off two shots inside the first six minutes for Gardner-Webb. Freshman forward Ila Allred put the first shot on target for GWU not long after in the 12th minute.

Despite the Runnin' Bulldogs finding some footing, High Point struck for two goals back-to-back just 30 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead. The Panthers found the back of the net at 16:43 and 17:12 to jump in front. High Point added a third near the end of the first half, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime after scoring in the 37th minute.

Despite the score, Gardner-Webb continued to attack some in the second half. Freshman defender Noor Reslan put a shot out to the left in the 56th minute, following another one from Allred in the 51st minute. Tribolet also added a shot for Gardner-Webb in the second half, firing just off frame in the 79th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Savannah Dixon continued to be the standout player despite the eventual defeat, with the Raleigh, N.C. native making eight saves in her 90 minutes of action on Saturday
