WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb track and field team competed in indoor action for the first time in 2025-26 on Saturday, posting strong performances in the ASICS Get Your Marks Meet at JDL Fast Track
With mostly a field of athlete competing in collegiate competition for the first time, Gardner-Webb had a string of impressive results. Starting with freshman
Laura Covarrubias in women's 60 meter hurdles, Covarrubias won the event with one of the fastest times in Gardner-Webb history, finishing in 8.98 seconds.
Teammate sophomore
Paige Boyd was fourth in the same event as Covarrubias in 9.71 seconds, before winning the women's high jump later on with the eighth best distance in school history, 1.60 meters. Second in the women's high jump was fellow GWU athlete freshman

Skye Jackson continued the school-record pace for GWU in the women's 60 meter dash, posting the ninth best time in school history with a time of 7.86 seconds and finishing second place
Freshman Donovan Richardson managed two of the best events of the day, in men's triple jump and men's long jump. In triple jump, Richardson posted a distance of 14.32 meters to win the event with the fourth best distance in school history. Then in long jump, Richrardson placed fifth with 6.52 meters

Hannah Hoffman and junior
Gracie Wilson were excellent for the Runnin' Bulldogs in women's weight throw. Hoffman won the event with a distance of 13.99 meters, with Wilson in third with 12.64 meters

Ella Riggs was third in women's shot put after recording a distance of 11.56 meters
