CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, splitting action on the deck of the USS Yorktown with a 27-13 loss to Maryland and a 20-18 win over Air Force in the 2025 Throwdown on The Yorktown

After a loss in the opening match, the Runnin' Bulldogs bounced back in a big way to defeat Air Force. Against the Falcons, Gardner-Webb turned to No. 16 ranked redshirt sophomore T.K. Davis, who scored a win by 7-3 decision at 133 pounds over Gavin Caprella.

GWU also grabbed important points at 141 through graduate Dominic Ditullio who recorded a 9-2 decision over Carter Nogle and at 149 with junior Drew Pepin, who scored a 5-0 decision over Bryce Shelton.

To set up the eventual win, junior Joseph Giordano defeated EJ Beloncik 15-3 by major decision at 157, then freshman Isaiah Guerrero won by decision, 7-2 over Cunner Cramblett at 174 pounds.

The highlight of the day would come from Josh McCutchen at 197 pounds who defeated No. 18 ranked Karson Tompkins of Air Force by a 13-2 major decision, getting what would be the decisive points in the match for the Runnin' Bulldogs
