Facing off against Big East opposition for the first time this season, the Runnin' Bulldogs got off to a slow start and were down 13-2 through the first 7:30 of the game. Sophomore forward Jacob Hogarth got the first bucket of the game to go for GWU after 2:57, knocking down a sharp jumper in the paint

The Runnin' Bulldogs began to find some footing on offense late in the first half, junior guard Ace Talbert cashing in on a couple late free throws and graduate forward Navuan Peterson getting a tip-in to go with under a minute to play. At the break, DePaul would lead Gardner-Webb, 48-24

Gardner-Webb stepped up in a big way in the second half, shooting 41.2% as a team and knocking down six three pointers over the course of the final 20 minutes. The first of those came from Talbert with 16:10 left to play, off a nice assist from sophomore guard Jacob Hudson
