SPARTANBURG, S.C. - After a strong individual performance at Throwdown on The Yorktown, redshirt sophomore T.K. Davis has been named Southern Conference Wreslter of The Week

Over the weekend at Throwdown on The Yorktown, Davis helped Gardner-Webb to a huge team win over Air Force, while also recording perhaps his biggest individual win yet. At 133 in pounds, the Rockmart, Ga. native defeated No. 10 ranked Braxton Brown of Maryland by 6-3 decision, Davis then scored a win by 7-3 decision over Gavin Caprella of Air Force as the Runnin' Bulldogs won 20-18 as a team

For Davis, he now catapults up the NCAA Division I rankings at 133 pounds, up seven spots this week to hold a national rank of No. 12 for his class via The Open Mat. Davis is the second highest ranked athlete in his class from a non-Power Conference school, and the only one from the Southern Conference inside the top 20. The defending Southern Conference champion at 133 pounds is now 4-0 this season and is also ranked No. 11 nationally in his weight class by Intermat Wrestling

He and Gardner-Webb will take that national rank to West Point, N.Y. on Saturday, November 23rd when GWU competes in the Black Knight Invite at Army
