Gardner-Webb Men's Tennis Prepares for Title Defense; Announces 2026 Schedule

| By:

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Head coach Mike Griffith and the Gardner-Webb men's tennis team have announced the spring portion of its 2025-26 schedule. The 2026 slate consists of 20 matches, all of which will be played away from the friendly confines of Webb Tennis Complex.

"We are playing on the road all season, which I like," said Griffith. "I believe it will make us tougher and more prepared for our conference tournament in April. I will never forget one coach who once said their team really came together after a spring break trip, and we will look at this schedule as one long spring break adventure. The team and I will be ready!"

The Runnin' Bulldogs open their schedule against Campbell on January 19 before heading to Lynchburg, Va. to take on Liberty. In a short trip to the Queen City, Garnder-Webb visits Charlotte on January 30 before closing out the first month of the new year at Davidson on January 31.

Opening up February, the Dawgs will take on its stiffest competition of the schedule with a trip to Clemson. Gardner-Webb will then visit the Volunteer State for consecutive matches, facing UT Chattanooga and Sewanee on February 6-7, respectively. A neutral site contest with VCU, to played at Davidson on February 15, will lead to a date with Queens on February 18. The Runnin' Bulldogs will then head to Colorado Springs for a pair of matches, taking on Air Force on February 20 followed by Northern Arizona 24 hours later.

Gardner-Webb will face the Fire Ants of USC Sumter on March 1 before opening conference play at Longwood on March 6. The Runnin' Bulldogs will then play three matches in five days, starting with UNC Greensboro on March 9 followed by Wingate and Georgia Southern on March 12 and 14, respectively. Stepping back into Big South play, the Dawgs take on Presbyterian March 21.

Heading down the stretch, GWU travels to take on UNC Asheville April 3 in the final league match of the regular season. The final two matches before Big South Tournament action will take place at Kennesaw State on April 11 and Belmont Abbey April 13.

The Big South Tournament will be played on April 16-18 in Lexington, S.C. The Runnin' Bulldogs will look to defend their tournament championship from last year, the first in the history of the program.
