CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, freshman guard Spence Sims has been named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league this afternoon.
Sims contributed 13.5 points in Gardner-Webb's contests at DePaul and Richmond last week. He started with 10 points, one assist and one steal in 18 minutes off the bench against the Blue Demons on Tuesday. Sims then led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a career-high 17 points against the Spiders on Saturday, as he made 5-of-9 three-pointers and was 6-of-11 overall from the field in 24 minutes of action. For the week, Sims was 9-of-15 shooting ( =60.0 percent), including 7-of-11 from long range ( =63.6).
Sims and the Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, November 26 as they head to Wilmington, N.C. to take on Navy during day one action of the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic.
