GWU started strong in Saturday's opener against Buffalo, taking matches at 125, 133, and 141. Nationally ranked redshirt sophomore T.K. Davis continued an excellent individual season with a tech fall 19-1 (3:28) win over Max Elton. Gardner-Webb led the match by as many as 19-4, before a Buffalo rally. Senior Josh McCutchen scored the final win for the Dawgs in 197, defeating Connor Jacobs by 9-5 decision. After a 22-22 tie, Buffalo would take the match on second criteria with two six-point wins
Gardner-Webb again started strong against Kent State, with Davis and senior Tyson Lane each scoring a victory to complete 2-0 individual days. Lane picked up a sudden victory over Nico Calello by a score of 18-15.
