BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team (3-9, 0-0 Big South) rolled to its biggest win of the season on Saturday afternoon inside Paul Porter Arena, with four Runnin' Bulldogs scoring in double figures in a 77-62 win over Western Carolina (2-10, 0-0 SoCon)
The Runnin' Bulldogs never trailed on Saturday afternoon, taking a 12-9 lead through one quarter, extending it double digits by halftime, and leading by as many as 31 behind its best shooting performance of the season. GWU shot 46% in the first half, then 63% in the second, including an overall mark of 12-of-18 from three point range
Despite the scoring barrage, Gardner-Webb didn't hit its first field goal until the 7:42 mark of the first quarter when junior guard
Amina Gray cashed in a three to put the Dawgs up 4-0. GWU got strong contributions from junior forward
Amira Ofunniyin in the first, with four big points.
Gardner-Webb ran its lead to double digits for the first time late in the second quarter, with freshman guard
Makayla Legette leading the way. The Latta, S.C. native knocked down both her three-point attempts and added three assists, as GWU took a 33-22 lead into the break.
The Runnin' Bulldogs exploded on offense with a huge third quarter. Gardner-Webb scored 31 points, shot 11-of-15, knocked down 6-of-7 three pointers, and ended the frame up by 27. Junior guard
Anaya Harris scored seven points for GWU, while Legette continued a perfect shooting game with two more threes. The Dawgs led as big as 64-33 when redshirt senior guard
Jaelyn Acker connected from long range from Harris with 1:51 left in the third.
With the game in hand, Gardner-Webb held on down the stretch for a 77-62 win. Western Carolina outscored the Runnin' Bulldogs 25-13 in the fourth, but a strong first three quarters allowed the Runnin' Bulldogs room to see out a home victory

Harris scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting with two steals, two steals and two assists, Legette finished perfect from the field and with a near triple-double, scoring a season-best 16 points on 6-of-6 from the deck, 4-of-4 from three, nine rebounds and nine assists, Gray scored 12 points with three made threes, and Ofunniyin pitched in with 12 points, seven rebounds
