Runnin' Bulldogs Handle East Tennessee State, 6-1

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb (9-1) men's tennis team ran its win streak to nine in a row following a decisive 6-1 victory over East Tennessee State (1-3) on Tuesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex.
The Runnin' Bulldogs picked up two wins in doubles to earn the point before winning five-of-six in singles action for the win.
"I am please at how we started the doubles today," said head coach Mike Griffith. "I am happy that we were able to put together another win."
Gardner-Webb had little trouble in doubles as Kaua Cressoni and Numa Lemieux-Monette took down Francisco Lamas and Juan Andres Listo 6-1 at No. 2 before Eduardo Dias and Boyd Schreiber secured the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 1.
Dias doubled the Runnin' Bulldogs lead after defeating Peter Kalocsai 6-1, 6-0 at No.1 singles before Alex Lepine brought the 'Dawgs to within one point of a match win, taking down Listo with ease (6-0, 6-1) at No. 5. Lemieux-Monette wasted no time clinching the match for GWU, winning in straight sets over Lamas at No. 3 (6-4, 6-3).
East Tennessee State earned its lone win at No. 2, but Lepine and Schreiber finished the dominant performance with wins at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
Gardner-Webb will look to stay hot as it hosts Wingate on Sunday, February 23. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
