Runnin' Bulldogs Fall to Longwood in Wednesday Night Big South Contest

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University women's basketball team (10-15, 7-6 Big South) couldn't shake a cold shooting start on Wednesday night inside Paul Porter Arena, falling 75-46 to visiting Longwood in Big South Conference action (18-9, 9-4 Big South)

The Runnin' Bulldogs started from behind on Wednesday night, with Longwood opening the game on an 8-0 run. Gardner-Webb managed to cut the Lancers lead to as few as four points in the final seconds of the opening frame, but a nearly 11 minute drought without a field goal after allowed Longwood to rebuild a double-digit lead through the second quarter and lead 34-16 at the half..

Gardner-Webb shot 0-for-13 from the floor in the second quarter and 0-of-5 from three, but did manage to hit 9-of-12 at the free throw line to stay afloat. The Runnin' Bulldogs rebounded in the third, shooting 7-of-10 and scoring 18 points to try and keep pace with the Lancers.

Freshman guard Kendall Scott led the way for Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night, continuing a good string of individual games with a season-high 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting, 6-of-6 at the free throw line, and a pair of made threes.
