BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University wrestling team was unable to overturn an early deficit on Tuesday night inside Paul Porter Arena, falling 38-8 to visiting Appalachian State in Southern Conference action

The Runnin' Bulldogs managed three individual wins in the match, with two coming by way of the highly ranked duo of graduate Todd Carter and redshirt freshman T.K. Davis. First it was Davis for Gardner-Webb, scoring a win at 133 pounds. The Rockmart, Ga. native defeated No. 33 ranked Chad Bellis of App State by 14-11 decision. Carter was next up, where the Blackshear, Ga. native defeated Aldo Hernandez of App State by tech fall, 20-5. Junior Jeffrey Jacome also scored a victory for Gardner-Webb, with a 4-1 sudden victory win over Colby McBride.

It's a short turnaround for the 'Dawgs, who are back inside Paul Porter Arena on Friday, February 7th against Presbyterian in more Southern Conference action.
