BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University men's tennis team continued an impressive start to the 2025 spring season on Thursday afternoon, scoring a fourth and fifth consecutive win with two dominant victories over Belmont Abbey
On its way to victory in the first match, the Runnin' Bulldogs won each of the six singles match ups. Graduate
Eduardo Dias had his stellar start to 2025 continue yet again, defeating Tim Stemler 6-0, 7-5 on No. 1 singles. Senior
Kim Niethammer kept the Runnin' Bulldogs rolling on No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Charlie Fremaux, just ahead of
Alexandre Bergeron who won 6-1, 6-0 in a dominant display on No. 3 single over Cameron Simpson.
Over to No. 4 singles, where
Alex Lepine fended off a late rally for a 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 win over Ricard Novell. To finish singles,
Boyd Schreiber defeated Jon Bayo by a score of 6-3, 6-2 on No. 5 singles and
Johan Van Wijk took down Brody Sawyer with ease, 6-0, 6-3
In doubles, the Runnin' Bulldogs continued a dominant display, taking all three matches. Senior

Kaua Cressoni teamed up for a 6-1 win over Charlie Fremaux and Isaac Buerkle, while
Alex Lepine and
Kim Niethammer battled their way to a 7-5 win over Nicholas Cary and Jackson Korta. To put the finishing touches on the 7-0 sweep, freshman
Billy Mac Clement and
Alexandre Bergeron picked up a victory over Tim Setmler and Noelle Ampong by a final of 6-2
In match two,
Lemieux-Monette moved up to No. 1 singles, defeating Stemler 6-3, 6-1. Also moving up, this time to No. 2 singles, Bergeron completed a stellar day with a 6-3, 6-0 win. The Runnin' Bulldogs grabbed individual victories on No. 4, 5 and 6 singles as well, where Van Wijk defeated Korta 6-4, 7-6 (4), sophomore Jurie Terblance took down Beurkle 6-4, 6-4 and Cressoni handed a defeat to Sawyer with a final tally of 6-0, 6-0 in a complete display
With two wins from three on doubles, Gardner-Webb would take the doubles point. Dias and Schreiber proved excellent on No. 1 doubles, defeating Cary and Korta by a final of 6-2, while Niethammer and Terblance won with ease over Simpson and Novelle on No. 3 singles, completing a 6-0 sweep.

The Runnin' Bulldogs are set to return to action on Sunday, February 9th at Mercer. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
Gardner-Webb will make the quick turnaround and return to the courts on Wednesday, February 6, playing host to Belmont Abbey. That contest is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
