| By:

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Senior Alex Lepine picked up a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win over Campbell's (2-7) Alex Fragasso at No. 5 singles, clinching a convincing 7-0 win for Gardner-Webb (12-2) men's tennis on Saturday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex.

Gardner-Webb started the day with a 6-1 win at No. doubles as freshman Boyd Schreiber and graduate Eduardo Dias took down Aleksandar Hudjec and Adi Dagan. After dropping No. 3 doubles, the Runnin' Bulldogs earned the first point of the match following a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles featuring Numa Lemeiux-Monette and Kaua Cressoni.

Singles belonged solely to GWU with the 'Dawgs taking all matches in straight sets. Lemieux-Monette defeated Hudjec 6-1, 6-1 to double the Gardner-Webb lead before redshirt sophomore Johan Van Wijk put the Black and Red on the verge of victory with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Matias Lofink.

Lepine left no doubt at No. 5, dominating his match for the win. Following the clinching match, Dias took down Thomas Drapeau (6-2, 6-3) at No. 1 while Alexandre Bergeron defeated Dagan 6-4, 6-3 and Kim Niethammer bested Luke Tollenaar 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4 and 2 singles, respectively.

"Campbell is a well-coached team," said head coach Mike Griffith. "I knew we would have to earn this [win]. It is a very good team win and great to be back to our winning ways."

The Runnin' Bulldogs will make the quick turnaround, heading down Interstate 85 to take on the No. 33 nationally ranked Clemson Tigers on Sunday, March 2. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
