Runnin' Bulldogs Complete Indoor Conference Championship With Record-Setting Performance

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb University men's and women's track and field teams completed a record-setting weekend at the Big South Indoor Championships with the highest finishes in school history, with the women placing third overall and the men's team in fifth among a handful of individual championships and podium finishes

Taking home another Big South individual championship for the weekend was sophomore Teandra Clemons. The Baxley, Ga. native blew away the field in the women's triple jump, taking first place with a distance of 11.81 meters. Clemons took home the gold by 0.15 meters over second place and finished nearly 0.40 meters ahead of fourth place.

Junior Quentin Peterson added to his personal trophy cabinet on Saturday afternoon, taking home first place in the men's weight throw. Peterson was the only athlete in the field to cross the 19.00 meter mark, winning the Big South title with a recorded distance of 19.25 meters,

Landing on the podium for the Gardner-Webb men on day two was TJ Peebles in the men's 60 meter hurdles. Peebles finished with a time of 8.17 seconds, good for a third place finish in the event.

The women's 60's meter hurdles also went the way of Gardner-Webb through junior Traci Cross. Cross was scored in third place, crossing the line for third place in a blistering 7.69 seconds.

Junior Jessica Perriello was the next Gardner-Webb athlete to wind up near the top of the finishing order, doing so in the women's 800 meter finals. Perriello finished her run in 2:12.67 to take third place.

Also in third place for the Runnin' Bulldogs was sophomore Nathan Cremin. Cremin came across the stripe in 1:50.66 to take a spot on the podium in the men's 800 meter finals.

Sophomore Anna Spencer was among the highest finishers in the women's 200 meter finals, sprinting to a third place run. Spencer made it to the line in 24.59 seconds to land another strong finish for Gardner-Webb.

Sophomore Jonathan Timpson posted a strong finish for Gardner-Webb, doing so in the men's high jump finals. Timpson was scored in fourth place and with a distance of 1.99 meters, among six athletes to clear the 1.90 meter mark in the event.

Junior Madison Boyd and sophomore Zoie Johnson went back-to-back in the women's weight throw finals. Boyd placed third with a distance of 16.69 meters, while Johnson posted a strong performance of 16.30 meters, good to take home fourth place.
