CLINTON, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb (13-3, 1-0) men's tennis team opened up Big South Conference play with a resounding 7-0 win at Presbyterian (5-8, 0-1) on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center Tennis Courts.

The Runnin' Bulldogs took the first point of the match after winning two of the three doubles matches before leaving no doubt with all six singles wins.

"This is a great way to start conference play with a win," said head coach Mike Griffith. "The conditions were tough with the wind, but we adjusted and are excited to get back to action against Liberty on Monday."

The team of Numa Lemieux-Monette and Kaua Cressoni got the day started with a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles before Edsuardo Dias and Boyd Schreiber clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Alexandre Bergeron put the 'Dawgs ahead 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win at No. 4 singles while Alex Lepine inched GWU closer to the match win with a dominating 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5. Kim Niethammer put the finishing touches on the Runnin' Bulldogs win at No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1.

Although the match was clinched, the two teams played out the remainder of the singles flights. Lemieux-Monette won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 while Scheriber and Dias took care of business at No. 6 and No. 1 singles, respectively.
