ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University wrestling team completed a successful 2025 Southern Conference Championship meet on Saturday afternoon, with junior Tyson Lane earning a runner-up finish while redshirt freshman T.K. Davis and graduate student Todd Carter took home individual championships and a bid in the NCAA Championships

At 125 pounds, Lane made his way through the bracket on Friday, scoring an upset of No. 1 seed Anthony Molton by an 8-2 decision. Despite a loss in the title match on Saturday, Lane became one of three Runnin' Bulldog athletes to earn a podium finish for the weekend.

Redshirt freshman T.K. Davis added an already impressive debut season for the Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon, taking home his first Southern Conference title at 133 pounds. The Rockmart, Ga. native and Southern Conference Freshman of The Year defeated Blake Boarman of Chattanooga for the second time this season, this time by 3-0 decision, to earn an individual title. Davis also earns a spot in the NCAA Championship Meet in Philadelphia, where he'll take 23 wins for the season and a Top 30 national ranking in his weight class.

Graduate student Todd Carter avenged last season's second place run on Saturday afternoon, earning his first Southern Conference title. After two wins on Friday to make the title match, Carter defeated Shannon Hannah of Campbell by 4-2 decision to win the 141 pound class and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. Carter will arrive in Philadelphia with a 19-3 overall record and a Top 20 national ranking next to his Southern Conference championship.

Carter and Davis will learn their bouts and seeding for the 2025 NCAA Championships on Wednesday, March 12th before traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. for the event, scheduled from March 20th to 22nd at Wells Fargo Center.
