FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Kayla Dowell posted a top 10 finish at the 2025 Big South Women's Golf Championship after firing a three-round total of 230 (+14) while the Gardner-Webb women's golf team earned a sixth-place finish following the third and final round on Tuesday, April 15.
Dowell opened her tournament with a 78 (+6) before carding rounds of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5), leading the Runnin' Bulldogs over the 54-hole event.
Teammate senior Neza Siftar finished one stroke out of a top 10 placement after firing a combined total of 231 (+15). Siftar tallied a 75 (+3) in round one before dropping a single shot in round two, finishing with a 76 (+4). She concluded her event with an 80 (+8).
Junior Georgia Barr came in a tie for 27th following a three-day total of 240 (+24) with her best efforts coming in round two, a 7-over, 79. Playing in her first conference championship, freshman Eva Bulger finished in a tie for 35th following a combined score of 245 (+29).
Rounding out the top 5 for Gardner-Webb was senior Vileska Gelpi, who carded a 54-hole combined score of 253 (+37) while finishing in 37th place overall.
The Buccaneers of Charleston Southern took home the team title after turning in a score of 914 (+50), besting High Point by a single stroke. However, High Point's Julia McLaughlin earned individual medalist honors after firing a 4-over, 220 over three rounds.
