CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Per release from the league office, sophomore Anna Spencer and junior Quentin Peterson of the Gardner-Webb University track and field teams have been named Big South Athletes of The Week

Being named the Women's Track Athlete of The Week Spencer ran a personal-best 11.82 seconds in the 100m dash at the South Florida Invitational over the weekend for Gardner-Webb, the second fastest-time in the event in the Big South so far this spring. The Cairo, Ga. native also posted a time of 24.16 seconds in the 200 meters to complete an excellent weekend.

Taking home the Men's Field Athlete of The Week, Peterson won the shot put at the South Florida Invitational with a winning mark of 17.77 meters. The Donough, Ga. native also finished second in the discus with a personal-best distance of 60.30 meters, the second best mark all-time in Big South history, while also placing seventh in the hammer with a throw of 55.47 meters. 

Gardner-Webb returns to action on the weekend of April 18th and 19th at Winthrop University, taking part in the WUPax Invitational
