CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University track and field team posted one of its best weekends of the outdoor season at the WCU Catamount Classic, scoring high marks across the board in Friday and Saturday events
Junior
Jada Pittman continued a string of strong runs in the spring on both Friday and Saturday. In the women's 100 meter prelims, Pittman crossed the line in 12.42 seconds to make the finals, where she eventually finished fourth in 12.07 seconds.
Senior
Noah Meadows and sophomore
Nico Wright finished side by side in the men's 200 meter race. Meadows crossed the line in fourth with a time of 21.51 seconds, while Wright was sixth in 21.70 seconds.
GWU took first place in the women's 200 meters thanks to sophomore
Anna Spencer. Spencer won the event with a time of 23.82 seconds, while teammate senior
Teryn Bour set a PR with an eighth place run in 25.11 seconds. Bour was aso third in the women's 400 meters with another PR in 56.18 seconds.
The Runnin' Bulldogs finished at and near the top of the leaderboard in both men's discus throw and women's dicus throw. Winning the event, junior
Quentin Peterson came first in the men's event with a distance of 56.97 meters, while sophomore
Devin Redd was third after recording 45.87 meters.
Over in the women's event, sophomore
Zoie Johnson was second with a distance of 44.94 meters. Furthermore, Peterson won the men's hammer throw by logging a distance of 59.64 meters.
In women's hammer throw, Gardner-Webb topped the charts with junior
Madison Boyd. Boyd won the event, recording a distance of 49.32 meters. The previously mentioned Johnson was third with a distance of 47.78 meters recorded.
 Adding another win was sophomore
Jonathan Timpson in the men's high jump, The Utah native put a distance of 1.97 meters on the board to score first place.
Men's and women's long jump also proved successful for GWU. In men's long jump, freshman
Joshua Powell placed third, taking a podium with 6.84 meters recorded. Over in the women's event, sophomore
Teandra Clemons was second place by scoring 5.66 meters. Clemons was also third in the women's triple jump by posting 11.53 meters.
Lastly, in men's shot put, freshman
Magnum Chesnut put up a solid performance in the men's shot put. Chestnut recorded 14.66 meters, good for a seventh place finish.
