ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University track and field team continued an impressive run at the Big South Outdoor Championships on Tuesday, scoring two more individual titles and two more podium finishes as well to end the day inside the top five of both the men's and women's standings

The Runnin' Bulldogs impressed in the men's javelin throw on Tuesday afternoon, where GWU scored both third and fourth place. Senior Calvin Fernandez took home a bronze medal with a third place finish, with a distance of 61.61 meters. Teammate senior Luke Gordy was just behind in fourth, posting a distance of 58.50 meters to complete an outstanding showing for Gardner-Webb.

Following up from a second place finish in Monday's women's long jump, sophomore Teandra Clemons was back on the podium in the women's triple jump. Taking her second medal of the championship meet, Clemons posted a distance of 12.08 meters.

The women's heptathalon continued on Tuesday, with sophomore Isa van Sintemaartensdijk competing in long jump and javelin throw events. Van Sintemaartensdijk continued to impress and lead the overall standings in the final events, placing third in long jump with a distance of 5.28 meters. She'd go on to win the javelin throw with a distance of 35.25 meters, in turn clinching the Big South Outdoor Championship for herself and Gardner-Webb.

Just hours after winning an outdoor title in men's hammer throw, junior Quentin Peterson returned to take first place in men's shot put with one of the most impressive performances of the entire championship weekend. Peterson smashed the previous meet record and posted the 19th best score in the NCAA East Region this season, with a distance of 18.82 meters. That distance also ranks inside the top 40 for all of NCAA Division I this season, as Peterson looks ahead to NCAA regional and national championships in the coming weeks.

Senior Teryn Bour posted one of GWU's strongest runs on the track on Tuesday. Bour, in 55.69 seconds, qualified for the finals of the women's 400 meters with a fourth place finish. Bour also set a new personal best in the process.

Junior Jada Pittman also managed to qualify for the finals of the women's 100 meters. Pittman placed seventh in prelims, setting a season best time of 12.23 seconds.

Junior Jessica Perriello became GWU's third women's track qualifier of the day, doing so with a personal best in the women's 800 meters. Perriello advanced with a fifth place finish and a time of 2:12.67

Following the conclusion of all events on day two, the Gardner-Webb men sit fourth overall, while the Gardner-Webb women are placed second. The final events are set to begin on Wednesday morning in Asheville, with all the action streaming live on ESPN Plus.
