CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Per release from the conference office, three Gardner-Webb University softball players have been named to All-Big South teams for the 2025 season, including sophomore
Trina Van Dyke, freshman
Lauren Spainhower and graduate student
Araceli Pesqueira
Voted as Big South All-Conference Honorable Mention, Van Dyke finished the season batting .294 for Gardner-Webb across 32 games and 28 starts. The sophomore outfielder also tallied 21 runs, 25 hits, six doubles, and a pair of triples. The Wake Forest, N.C. native saved her best for the end of the campaign, leading the 'Dawgs with a .349 batting average and.535 slugging in conference play, a team-high 15 hits, and 10 runs scored.
Landing on the Big South All-Freshman team, Spainhower completes a successful debut season for the Runnin' Bulldogs. The Knoxville, Tenn. native started 36 times for the 'Dawgs in the outfield, while tallying 33 hits, 21 runs scored, and 12 RBI. Spainhower continued to play well into Big South play, finishing with a .333 average across 11 conference games, all of which were starts.
On the All-Academic team for Gardner-Webb, Pesqueira turned in one of her finest seasons at GWU both on the field and in the classroom. The Laveen, Ariz. native hit .294 with a career-high six home runs, 40 hits, 19 RBI and a .957 fielding percentage at third base/shortstop while starting 45 games for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Pesqueira did so all while finishing her master's degree in exercise science, with a concentration in strength and conditioning, holding down a 3.86 graduate GPA.
