GARDNER-WEBB NOTES
- The Runnin' Bulldogs are coming off a tight 1-0 loss at Elon on August 24th, with the Phoenix scoring the winning goal inside the final five minutes
- Junior forward Olivia Tribolet scored her first GWU goal at Queens, with a header off an assist by freshman forward Taryn Pekala who recorded her first collegiate assist
- Gardner-Webb played a total of 25 different players at Queens two weeks ago, including eight off the bench who saw at least 20 minutes of action
- Against Elon, four Runnin' Bulldogs came off the bench to play at least 20 minutes, with freshman midfielder Bailey Pottratz leading the way among all GWU subs with 41 minutes played
- Senior goalkeeper Savannah Dixon made eight saves for the Runnin' Bulldogs at Stetson, before then making four at Queens on Sunday, then a career high 10 at Elon. Dixon currently leads the Big South with 22 total saves, is top-20 nationally with 7.33 per contest and is the active Big South Defensive Player of The Week for her standout performance on August 24th at Elon
- Four players for GWU have played the full 90 minutes in every game this season including Dixon, sophomore defender Tanner Michael, senior midfielder Peyton Bryant and senior defender Camila Lezcano
- Dating back to the 2022 season, Lezcano is set to make her 61st career appearance for the Runnin' Bulldogs on Sunday, the most appearances for the team
- Bryant meanwhile is due to make her 38th career appearance for the Runnin' Bulldogs while junior midfielder Lily Stegall will mark her 39th game for GWU
- Graduate forward Annie Slovak, who made her Gardner-Webb debut with 36 minutes as a substitute against Stetson then continued to play significant minutes off the bench with 29 against Elon, will mark her 65th collegiate game between Gardner-Webb and Liberty with action against Wofford
- Wofford will be the first of eight home games for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2025, with South Carolina State also due for a visit on Sunday night at 6 pm.
- Freshman defender Sarah Birchall made her debut for Gardner-Webb on Sunday evening at Elon with 28 minutes off the bench. The Brisbane, Australia native is one of 13 newcomers to have seen the field so far for the Runnin' Bulldogs this season
- In 2024, the Runnin' Bulldogs averaged north of a single goal per game, scoring 1.21 per contest. That includes 10 scored in the first half of games, tied for the second best mark in the Big South Conference
WOFFORD NOTES
- The Terriers have opened 2025 with four consecutive 1-0 losses to USC Upstate, UNC Asheville, Navy and Richmond
- Gardner-Webb is the third of six matches against Big South opposition for Wofford in 2025, and the first of four straight against the likes of Presbyterian, Winthrop and Charleston Southern to follow
- Wofford notched three wins against Big South opponents last season, defeating Winthrop, Radford and UNC Asheville all in a row between September 5th and 12th of last fall
- Wofford is let by head coach Kevin Dempsey in his first season. The former College of Charleston head coach arrives in Spartanburg after previous assistant jobs at LSU, Maryland and Loyola Maryland and held a 86-70-22 record from 2001 to 2009 in Charleston
- Wofford returns 21 players across its full roster from a 2024 team that went 6-12-2, and als welcomes eight newcomers
- Goalkeeper Elizabeth Navola notched 100 career saves at Richmond earlier in the week, one of two active SoCon goalkeepers to reach the mark
- Of 10 teams, Wofford was picked eighth in the 2025 SoCon Women's Soccer preseason poll
