CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Per release from the league office, senior Jessica Perriello of the Gardner-Webb cross country team has been named Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of The Week following her record-setting individual performance at the Furman Invitational

Competing at Furman last weekend, Perriello set a school-record time, crossing the line in 23:35.27 in the women's the four-mile race. The native Alpharetta, Ga.was the top finisher among the 24 Big South competitors, and finished 16th overall out of 69 runners in the entire event. Perriello continues a strong start to the fall 2025 season, previously posting a 18:28.8 time in the women's 5k at the Appalachian State Covered Bridge Invitational at the end of August

Gardner-Webb returns to action on Friday evening, September 19th for the Brevard XC Classic, hosted by Brevard College
