RADFORD, VA - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team returns to the floor on Wednesday night in the New River Valley, seeking its third Big South win of the season when the Runnin' Bulldogs face Radford

GAME INFORMATION
Game 18: Gardner-Webb (5-12, 2-1 Big South) at Radford (9-9, 1-2 Big South)
Location: Dedmon Center - Radford, Va.
Stream: ESPN Plus
Tip-Off: 7:00 pm
Series History: RU leads 23-16
Previous Meeting: 3-6-25 - Radford, 69-63

THE MATCH-UP: On Wednesday night, Gardner-Webb takes its 2-1 conference record on the road to face Radford. The Highlanders and Runnin' Bulldogs have meet 39 times previously, with Radford holding a 23-16 edge. Radford has won 4 out of the last 5 including all three last season after GWU had previously won 5 straight between 2022 and 2023

LAST TIME OUT: After suffering a 62-51 setback to UNC Asheville last Wednesday night, the Runnin' Bulldogs flipped the script on Saturday to score an important win over USC Upstate, 64-61. Gardner-Webb trailed by as many as 17 in the contest before outscoring Upstate 20-7 in the fourth quarter and securing the first major come-from-behind victory in the Terri Williams era to date

THE HOT HAND: Junior guard Amina Gray was excellent for GWU in the win at Winthrop on New Years Eve to open Big South play, scoring a game-high 21 points, hitting eight of the Runnin' Bulldogs 17 made field goals and five of the team's eight three-pointers. The Dekalb, Ill. native has been a steady presence on offense this season under first-year head coach Terri Williams, averaging a career-best 12.6 points per game

BACK IN THE LINEUP: Junior guard Anaya Harris returned to the Gardner-Webb lineup on December 13th and has quickly made her presence known once again. The Raleigh, N.C. native dropped 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting in her season debut against Western Carolina, scored 20 in the loss to UNC Asheville last Wednesday night, and despite only scoring eight points against USC Upstate, scored the game-clinching bucket with under a minute to play

PRESS TO RUN: The strength of the Runnin' Bulldogs team so far in 2025-26 has been defense. In five wins, Gardner-Webb is allowing only 52.4 points per game, including a season-low 35 in a win over Hampton on November 16th where the Pirates shot 21.2% for the game and 14.% from three. In its five wins, Gardner-Webb has yet to allow an opponent to score more than 62 points.

SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS: Under 13th year head coach Mike McGuire, Radford is off to a 9-9 start but just 1-2 in the Big South. The Highlanders opened league play with a 43-point win at Presbyterian, before losing at home to Charleston Southern and away to High Point. Radford comes into Wednesday night's game as one of the best rebounding teams in mid-major basketball, raking top-50 nationally in offensive rebounds (251, 41st), defensive rebounds (487, 46th), total rebounds (738, 30th)
