CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb (1-1) men's tennis team was upended by Charlotte by the final of 6-1 on Friday afternoon in the Queen City.
Although the 49ers took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two, the team of Adam Patry and Noah Zeiger took down Medus and Muenster in No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
Alexandre Bergeron put the Runnin' Bulldogs on the board with a 7-6, 6-4 straight-set win during No. 1 singles action. However, Charlotte put the match away with wins on courts 2-6. Zeiger and Johan Van Wijk put up valiant efforts in flights four and five, respectively, dropping their matches in three sets.
Gardner-Webb will return to action on Friday, February 6 after traveling to face the Mocs of UT Chattanooga at 1 p.m.
