MILL SPRING, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb track and field team posted a huge day at the East Coast Elite Banked Invitational on Friday afternoon, with several new top times being set for the program
In the women's 1-mile race,
Megan Devanny posted a time of 5:18.10. Not only was that a personal-best, but the sixth best time in Gardner-Webb history. In the women's 1000-meter race, Devanny went one better with a sixth place finish, the eighth best time in GWU history, and a time of 3:08.53
Freshman
Skye Jackson took part in the women's 300-meter race for GWU. Jackson brought home a 10th place finish, and the fourth fastest time ever by a Runnin' Bulldog in the event, with a time of 41.60 seconds. Also in the women's 300 was
Rylee Cassada who posted a personal best and the 10th best time ever in a Dawgs uniform in 44.37 seconds
Competing in the men's 300-meter race,
Angel Urugutia recorded a time of 36.46 seconds. That was good enough for 24th in the event but the sixth best time ever for a Gardner-Webb athlete.
Micah Morales was also in action in the men's 300-meters, with the eighth best time ever for the program by way of 37.05 seconds, also a personal best.
Hope Smith recorded one of the day's most impressive results for Gardner-Webb. With a third place run in 57.94 seconds in the women's 400-meter race, Smith also entered the GWU record book with the fifth fastest time in program history
Donovan Richardson took part in the men's triple jump for the Dawgs. Richardson recorded a distance of 14.92 meters, good for second in Gardner-Webb history and third in the event. TeammateÂ
Kenny Wilkes now holds the third best distance for Gardner-Webb ever as well at 14.73 after finishing sixth. Wilkes also took part in long-jump, finishing 11th at 6.97 meters, the seventh best distance ever recorded for Gardner-Webb
Paige Boyd continued an excellent individual run on Friday, finishing second and setting a new personal best in women's high-jump with a distance of 1.68 meters. That's now good for fourth on the Gardner-Webb all-time list
Maybe the single most impressive performance of the day for GWU came from
Teandra Clemons. In triple jump, Clemons recorded a distance of 12.45 meters to win the event outright. In doing so, Clemons now sits second in the Gardner-Webb record book, set a new personal record, and holds the 78th best mark in NCAA Division I this season
Claire Bauer carried the flag for Gardner-Webb distance on Friday afternoon. Baur placed second in the morning distance women's 3000-meters, setting a personal best in 11:22.28
