HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb (2-16, 0-3) men's basketball fell by the final of 104-49 at league-leading High Point (15-3, 3-0) on Wednesday evening inside Qubien Center.
Coming off the bench, junior guard DJ Jefferson led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 4-for-8 from distance in 29 minutes. Sophomore forward Jacob Hogarth also notched double digits with 11 to go along with four rebounds. Sophomore guard Colin Hawkins chipped in nine points and three assists.
As a team, Gardner-Webb knocked down 20-of-62 (32%) shots, including 7-for-31(23%) from behind the arc. The Runnin' Bulldogs finished the contest with 35 points off the bench and 22 points in the paint.
The Panthers scored the initial 16 points of the game and never looked back, leading by a score of 53-13 at halftime. Gardner-Webb started to find offensive rhythm in the second half, but it was too little, too late in the Big South matchup.
Gardner-Webb returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 14, playing host to the Highlanders of Radford. Tip from inside Paul Porter Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
