ORLANDO, FLA - The Gardner-Webb swimming team wrapped up the first day of the 2026 ASUN Championships on Friday evening, with multiple podium finishes and a new school record in the books
In the men's 500 yard freestyle finals, freshman
Victor Cury captured the first podium of the week for Gardner-Webb. With a time of 4:23.85, Cury was scored in second place, nearly two seconds ahead of his opponents in third and fourth, and set a new personal best all at once
The women's 50 yard freestyle finals were highlighted by junior
Slawka Ndubuisi. With a time of 22.92 seconds in finals, Ndubuisi brought home a third place finish for the Dawgs and set a new personal best
Perhaps the biggest event of the entire day for Gardner-Webb came in the men's 200 yard medley relay. The Runnin' Bulldogs placed fourth, but did so in the process setting a new program record. Junior

Santiago Alcantara in the 500 freestyle, with Weber clocking a 4:30.52 and Alcantara touching the wall in 4:33.91
Between the the men's and women's 50 yard freestyle prelims, five new PR times were set for the Dawgs. In addition to Ndubuisi who bettered her own time in finals, senior
Hannah Routh set a new best time of 23.94 in the women's race. On the men's side meanwhile, freshman Jonny Fraccola was clocked at 21.25, freshman Joe Sorrell at 21.27, and sophomore
Manuel Brandner at 20.42Â
