Dawgs Post Another Record-Setting Evening on Day Two of ASUN Championships

ORLANDO, FLA - The Gardner-Webb swimming team posted another record-setting evening, for both school and individual on Thursday, adding another podium to a busy week at the 2026 ASUN Championships

Following up yesterday's performance where he was second in the 500 free, freshman Victor Cury was back in the pool for the men's 400 yard IM race. Cury rewrote the Gardner-Webb record book with his third place run, recording a new school record time of 3:50.79 for his second medal of the week

That men's 400 yard IM race also featured another personal best for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Junior Luke Weber placed seventh overall for GWU, doing so with a time of 3:54.82

Gardner-Webb also recorded its second school record relay time of the meet on Thursday. After setting a new high mark in the men's 200 yard medley on Wednesday, the quartet of Carter Redelman, Justin Bender, Agustin Orechia and Manuel Brandner, two of whom were part of yesterday's run, put down a new school best time of 3:12.39 in the men's 400 yard medley relay

Orechia was back in the pool for the Runnin' Bulldogs, setting a new personal best in the men's 100 meter fly. Orechia placed eighth overall, but did so with a time of 48.01 seconds. Redelman added to the GWU personal records as well, clocking in at 49.82 seconds for the same event

Swimming in the women's 200 yard freestyle, freshman Jenna Valentine posted yet another Gardner-Webb personal best in finals. Valentine finished 14th overall, putting together a time of 1:52.02

Also for the women's team, freshman Madison Richardson made her first ASUN Championships a memorable one in the women's 50 yard freestyle. Richardson finished the race with a time of 24.04 seconds for the Runnin' Bulldogs
