COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Gardner-Webb (5-3) men's tennis dropped a pair of matches on February 20-21, falling to Air Force Academy by the final of 6-1 before succumbing to Northern Arizona, 4-1.
Air Force 6, Gardner-Webb 1
The Runnin' Bulldogs competed point-for-point throughout the afternoon, with the outcome not decided until the closing stages of singles play. Gardner-Webb showed resilience across the lineup, battling through long rallies and three-set matches as both teams traded momentum.
After doubles play set the tone for a close match, the Bulldogs picked up key singles victories to stay within striking distance, while several other courts were decided by narrow margins. Even in matches that went the Falcons' way, Gardner-Webb forced extended games and pressure moments.
Northern Arizona 4, Gardner-Webb 1
Gardner-Webb opened the match with a strong showing in doubles, earning two of the three contests to claim the early point. The Bulldogs picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, as Adam Patry and Noah Zeiger secured a 6–4 victory, followed by Alexandre Bergeron and Johan Van Wijk closing out a 6–4 decision to give GWU the doubles advantage.
In singles play, Northern Arizona responded with depth across the lineup, winning four straight matches to clinch the dual. Despite competitive sets throughout the afternoon, the Bulldogs were unable to convert momentum into additional points as the Lumberjacks closed out victories at the top and middle positions.
