Runnin' Bulldogs Wrap-Up Successful 2026 ASUN Championship Weekend

ORLANDO, FLA - The Gardner-Webb swimming team was back in the pool one final time on Saturday, wrapping up a successful 2026 ASUN Championships

Taking home a conference title and setting the tone for Gardner-Webb on Saturday was Agustin Orechia. Orechia posted a new school record and won the men's 200 yard backstroke, completing an excellent championship week with a time of 1:43.15. Competing in the same event, Carter Redelman recorded a new personal best in 1:48.27

Also amongst the school record holders is now Luke Weber. Taking part in the marathon 1650 free, Weber finished the race and his ASUN Championship meet with a time of 15:36.92, the best in school history. That was enough to land Weber a third place finish, with GWU also fourth and fifth in the event with Santiago Alcantara and Victor Cury, and Cury setting a new personal best time at 15:45.21

Mixed in the medal performances were a slew of new personal best times for the Dawgs. In the women's 100 yard free, Jillian Hawkins posted a time of 52.53, while four GWU men did so in the men's 100 yard free- those include Manuel Brandner (44.38), Jacob Jensen (44.78), Luke Wesson (44.72) and Jonathan Fraccola (47.06)

Other Gardner-Webb athletes with new personal records on Saturday include Dakota Townley with a 2:15.03 in the women's 200 yard breaststroke, Thomas Adam with a 2:06.08 in the men's 200 yard breaststroke, and Kaitlin Estes with a 2:03.79 in the women's 200 yard backstroke
