Women's Basketball Falls to High Point, 83-53

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team (11-17, 8-6 Big South) saw its season-long five game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling 83-53 to High Point (24-4, 13-2 Big South)

The Runnin' Bulldogs started slow on Saturday afternoon, with visiting High Point jumping out to a 29-10 lead after 10 minutes.The Panthers shot 12-of-16 in the opening quarter, versus just 5-of-17 for Gardner-Webb. GWU was led by junior guard Anaya Harris in the first, who added four points 

High Point cooled off from the field in the second where the game became a bit more balanced. Senior guard Nyla Walker got the first three of the game to go for GWU with 5:08 to play in the frame. The Dawgs also got some good minutes from redshirt sophomore forward Kayla Martin, who scored six second-quarter points, After two, the Runnin' Bulldogs trailed 43-23

The visiting Panthers extended its lead in the third and fourth quarters. With Gardner-Webb trailing, freshman guard Rafferty Powell entered the game and got on the scoreboard, as did sophomore forward Regina Yanez-Enriquez. The clock eventually ran out on GWU, as the Runnin' Bulldogs fell 83-53

LEADERS
Walker led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 12 points and knocked down 5-of-7 shots, Martin added 10 points on an identical 5-of-7 shooting in just 14 minutes, while in total 10 different players scored for Gardner-Webb

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Gardner-Webb finished with 26 points in the paint and 29 points off the bench, while also finishing with an 8-5 advantage in offensive rebounds
