Runnin' Bulldogs Beat Jax State 8-2 Behind McLamb's Gem, Big Sixth Inning

OXFORD, AL - The Gardner-Webb softball team rallied back from a defeat late on Saturday, coming back to the diamond to beat Jacksonville State 8-2 on Sunday

After falling behind early, the Runnin' Bulldogs struck back for a run in the third and two runs in the fourth. In the third, sophomore third baseman Caitlin Colley clubbed her second home run of the weekend to left, tying the game at 1-1. Then in the fourth, freshman right fielder LY Forte found the gap in left center to put Gardner-Webb in front 2-1

Colley was again in the center of the action in the fifth, going the other way for a two-run homer that put the Dawgs in front. The Stouffville, Ontario native finished an incredible weekend on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with two runs, three runs batted in

By the time sophomore pinch hitter Madden McMahan-Waters added a two-RBI double and senior shortstop Annicka McLaughlin scored twice on an error in the sixth inning, Gardner-Webb pushed its lead out to 8-2

Meanwhile in the circle, freshman right-hander Glenna McLamb was excellent. McLamb tossed all 7.0 innings, allowed five hits and two runs, picking up her third win of the season. McLamb was particularly good with runners on base, stranding Jax State runners in each inning played
