BLACKSBURG, VA - The Gardner-Webb track and field team returned to indoor action on Friday and Saturday in the New River Valley, competing in the Doc Hale Invitational at Virgina Tech
For Gardner-Webb,
Jessica Perriello started off the weekend's action in the women's 1-mile race. With a school-best time of 5:06.26, Perriello placed 19th overall.Â
Perriello was also scored 15th in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:16.72, while GWU teammates Karsyn Husky placed 19th with a time of 2:21.15,
Emily Leatherman in 21st by way of 2:26.21 and
Evelyn Gordon in 22nd at 2:34.91
Megan Devanny competed for GWU in the women's 3000-meters and was the best finisher for the Runnin' Bulldogs, in 19th place in 10:26.20
Jada Pittman was one of the day's best performers for GWU, competing in the women's long jump. Pittman finished at number eight, recording a distance of 5.48 meters
Madison Boyd was excellent for the Dawgs in women's weight throw. Boyd put down a distance of 17.38 meters, only a meter off the top spot, taking sixth place
DJ Black took part in the men's 200-meter race for Gardner-Webb. Black would finish 15th place overall, recording a time of 23.08 seconds. GWU teammate
Kalil Dennison was just behind in 17th in 23.20 seconds
Over in women's weight throw,
Zoie Johnson was scored in 11th place for GWU after putting down a mark of 15.69 meters. Teammate
Hannah Hoffman was 17th in the event as well with 14.80 meters, while
Ella Riggs was 18th at 14.01 meters and
Gracie Wilson 19th at 13.58 meters
Peyton Wheeler took part in the men's 400-meter race for GWU and came home in sixth place. Wheeler was quick to the finish line in 49.44 seconds, less than two seconds off the top spot
In the men's triple jump,
Kenny Wilkes posted one of the best results of the weekend for the Dawgs. With a distance of 14.80 meters and only a meter and change away from the top of the leaderboard, Wilkes placed fourth. Teammate Donovan Richardson was seventh for GWU with 14.55 meters, while
Joshua Powell was 10th with 14.08 meters
In men's shot put, Magnum Chestnut put together one of his best results of the indoor season so far, placing sixth to lead GWU with a distance of 15.57 meters
