Eight Runnin' Bulldogs Named to 2025-26 ASUN Swimming All-Academic Team

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - With the 2025-26 season now concluded, eight members of the Gardner-Webb swimming team have been named to this season's ASUN All-Academic Team

The  ASUN All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. All student-athletes named to the list boast a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games, while also having completed at least two years or 50% of work towards a degree.

Justin Bender - Senior, Business Administration - Previously named the 2025 ASUN Men's Most Outstanding Swimmer, Bender followed up his record-setting performance with third place in the 100 breast at 2026 ASUN Championships, leading the GWU men's 400 yard medley relay team which set a new school record with a time of 3:12.39, as well as the men's 200 yard medley relay with another GWU record time of 1:26.56

Dan Bennett - Junior, Biology - Part of the the GWU 400 yard medley relay team which set a new school record at the 2026 ASUN Championships with a time of 3:12.39. Bennett also posted a fourth place run in the 200 yard IM against Cumberlands this season, doing so in 1:59.96

Jacob Jensen - Junior, Business Administration - Set a new personal best in the men's 100 yard free at the 2026 ASUN Championships, recording a time of 44.78 seconds. Jensen also won the men's 50-yard freestyle against Davidson in January with a time of 20.72 seconds

Carter Redelman - Junior, Exercise Science - Part of the GWU 400 yard medley relay team which set a new school record at the 2026 ASUN Championships with a time of 3:12.39, as well as the men's 200 yard medley relay with another GWU record time of 1:26.56. Also set a new PR with 49.82 seconds in the men's 100 yard fly at the event

Luke Weber - Junior, Accounting - Season included a new school record set in the men's 1650 free, with a time of 15:36.92 at the ASUN Championships, a third place run in the event to land on the podium. Weber also picked up victory in the men's 400-yard IM against Davidson, recording a time of 3:59.75, the only swimmer in the event to finish in under 4:00

Slawka Ndubuisi - Junior, Psychology - At the 2026 ASUN Championships, her time of 22.92 seconds in the women's 50 yard freestyle was good for third place, a spot on the podium for GWU, and a personal best time. Also had a phenomenal meet against Davidson, scoring two individual wins on the day for the Runnin' Bulldogs. The Columbia, S.C. native won the women's 50-yard freestyle in a blistering 23.25 seconds, then the women's 100-yard freestyle in 52.05 seconds

Sara-Michael Jann - Senior, Biology - Had a memorable senior day meet for GWU this season, placing third in the women's 400-yard IM against Davidson, posting a time of 4:38.31 in her final meet at Bost Pool. Jann was also fourth in the women's 100-yard freestyle against UNC Wilmington in the fall, finishing in 54.40 seconds

Isabella Palazzo - Junior, Healthcare Management - Recorded a time of 58.36 second in the women's 100 yard backstroke, one of the best runs of her GWU career, earlier this year at Queens' Fall Frenzy
