Davis Named Southern Conference Wrestler of The Year Following Record-Setting Season

| By:

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Per release from the league office, after a terrific, recording-setting season, redshirt sophomore T.K. Davis of the Gardner-Webb wrestling team has been named the 2025-26 Southern Conference Wrestler of The Year. In addition, redshirt freshman Tucker Cell has been named to the Southern Conference All-Freshman team

At 133 pounds, Davis posted a remarkable 2025-26 season. Fresh of winning the league's Freshman of The Year award last season, the defending SoCon Individual Champion has gone 21-1 this campaign, including a perfect 8-0 in SoCon Duals. The Rockmart, Ga. native has also gone a perfect 18-0 in dual matches and has won 17 bouts in a row, dating back to Thanksgiving, posting one of the best win-loss records in the nation

Furthermore, Davis has spent the entire season ranked nationally in the 133 pound class, coming in as high as No. 14 according to WrestleStat. He's done this to the tune of 17 bonus-point wins, 10 wins by tech fall, and five major decisions. His 10 tech falls are the sixth-most nationally at 133 pound. Davis is the first athlete program history to win Southern Conference Wrestler of The Year

Named to the All-Freshman team, Cell was 4-4 overall this season, but together a 3-1 mark in SoCon action. Cell was impressive early in the SoCon season, winning his first bout by a 20 second fall at Chattanooga, then a second by a 2:14 tech fall in a Runnin' Bulldogs win at Chattanooga
