| By:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping UNC Asheville 7–0 while wrapping up its fourth consecutive Big South Conference Regular Season Championship and fifth over the last six years.

The Runnin' Bulldogs set the tone early in doubles play by securing the opening point with victories on courts two and three. The pairing of Noah Zeiger and Alexandre Bergeron earned a 6–3 win at No. 2 doubles, while Johan Van Wijk and Graham Bourne cruised to a 6–0 victory on court three to clinch the point for Gardner-Webb before the top doubles match could finish.

Gardner-Webb carried that momentum into singles competition, winning all six matches to complete the shutout. Boyd Schreiber was first off the court with a commanding 6–1, 6–0 victory at No. 3 singles, and Bergeron quickly followed with a 6–1, 6–0 win on court one. Zeiger added another straight-sets result with a 6–3, 6–2 triumph at No. 2 singles while clinching the win for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

The remaining courts continued the strong showing. Bourne secured a 6–3, 7–5 victory at No. 6 singles, while Van Wijk rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Harrison Cooper 3–6, 6–2, 6–3 on court five. Kaua Cressoni completed the sweep in dramatic fashion at No. 4 singles, battling back after losing the opening set to claim a 6–7 (4–7), 6–2, 10–8 win in the match tiebreak.

Gardner-Webb returns to the courts on Monday, April 6, traveling to the take on No. 34 Clemson in a non-conference battle. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
