HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb track and field team wrapped up a successful team weekend on Saturday, competing in day two of the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point
Competing in men's discuss throw for Gardner-Webb, junior
Devin Redd finished 11th place with a mark of 47.12 meters
In the women's 100 meters, freshman Sky Jackson took to the track for Gardner-Webb and recorded a time of 12.00 seconds flat, taking third place in the event. Jackson was also third in the 200 meters with a time of 24.58 seconds
With the second fastest time in school history, sophomore
Hope Smith won the women's 400 meters. Smith crossed the line just shy of a GWU record, posting a time of 55.06 seconds
Continuing a strong day for Gardner-Webb women's runners, freshman
Karsyn Huskey was fourth in the women's 800 meters. Huskey posted a time of 2:17.98
In the women's 400 meter hurdles, it was
Laura Covarrubias taking the top spot for GWU. Covarrubias finished first with an impressive time of 1:02.74
Women's high jump saw Gardner-Webb take another top ten finish. Freshman
Justus Bradford recorded a mark of 1.74 meters to finish in ninth
Freshman
Hannah Hoffman was ninth for the Dawgs in women's hammer throw elite. Hoffman did so with an impressive mark of 49.07 meters
For the men's team, senior
TJ Peebles took part in the men's 400 meter hurdles. Peebles showed off his speed, finishing seventh with a time of 56.09 seconds
Finally in men's discus throw elite, senior
Quentin Peterson was back competing in outdoor competition. After competing at NCAA Indoor Nationals a couple weeks ago, Peterson returned to win the event with a mark of 59.11 meters. Peterson also took sixth in men's hammer throw elite by way of a 53.81 meters mark
