Men Take Third, Women Fourth as Gardner-Webb Cross Country Tackles Furman 6K

Greenville, S.C.- The Gardner-Webb Cross Country teams turned in solid performances on Saturday morning at the Furman Invitational 6K, hosted by Furman University.
The men captured a 3rd-place team finish with 106 points, placing ahead of North Greenville (117), Lander (143), Erskine (162), and Bob Jones (185). Furman took 1st place with 19 points, followed by Charleston Southern with 42.
The women finished 4th overall with 103 points, finishing ahead of Lander (137), Bob Jones (190), and Erskine (213). Host Furman placed 1st with 15 points, Charleston Southern took 2nd (58 points), and North Greenville placed 3rd (87 points).
Brendan Athy led the way for Gardner-Webb, crossing the line in 31st place overall with a time of 19:50.42. Talan Farrington followed closely behind in 33rd (20:00.41), while Blakley Frank placed 38th (20:07.86). Max Thomas (42nd, 20:24.37) and Kaden Pratt (45th, 20:42.67) rounded out the scored runners.
Megan Devanny delivered a top team performance, crossing 14th overall with a time of 22:21.30. Maggie Dirks took 21st overall (22:49.89), followed by Karsyn Huskey in 31st (23:35.98), Claire Bauer in 37th (23:51.84), and Emma McKnight in 44th (25:17.60).
