Zach Weisz was named Assistant Coach of the Gardner-Webb University baseball program in June 2024.
Weisz brings a wealth of experience to Gardner-Webb, having spent the previous two seasons as the Director of Baseball Operations at Coastal Carolina University. During his time with the Chanticleers, Weisz assisted the coaching staff in developing the offense and outfielders, overseeing the majority of on- and off-field operations, and helping organize Coastal's baseball camps. He was also responsible for implementing and maintaining advanced technology solutions to optimize team performance. During his time at Coastal, the team won the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championship and advanced to the championship game of both the 2023 Conway Regional and the 2024 Clemson Regional.
Before his tenure at Coastal Carolina, Weisz spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant at his alma mater, California State University, Fullerton. As a player for the Titans, he was part of two Big West Conference Championship teams (2016 and 2018), advanced to three Regionals (2016, 2017, 2018) made a trip to the College World Series in 2017, and helped host a Super Regional in 2018. Additionally, he played for Hope International University in 2019, where he contributed to the team's GSAC Tournament Championship and their appearance in the Faulkner Regional.
Weisz holds both a Bachelor's Degree in American Studies and a Master's Degree in History from Cal State Fullerton.
His extensive playing and coaching background, combined with his academic achievements, make him a valuable asset to the Gardner-Webb baseball program.
