Travis Kiser is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the Gardner-Webb men's and women's swimming program.
Kiser joined the Runnin' Bulldogs for the 2019-20 season after spending the previous three seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Texas A&M. There, Kiser helped train athletes to compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championships, the NCAA Championships, World Championship meets, the World University Games, and the Olympic Trials. He also assisted the Aggies in breaking 85 percent of the school records during his tenure and trained the program's first SEC men's swimming champion.
Kiser has also been the assistant coach and head dryland coach for the Aggie Swim Club over the past three years, training multiple Texas High School state champions as well as a handful of NCAA Division I swimmers.
Prior to his coaching career, Kiser served as an Infantry Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division in Twentynine Palms, California. While in service to his country, he was deployed to Al Anbar Province, Iraq in 2007 and Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2008. His awards include Combat Action Ribbon (2nd Award Iraq/Afghanistan), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd Award).
A native of Bryan, Texas., Kiser completed his Masters of Science in Sports Management from Texas A&M University in 2019, and a Masters in Education and Curriculum in 2014. Kiser completed his undergraduate work from Texas A&M University with Bachelor of Arts degree in history and geography and military studies minor. Kiser also holds a certificate in Advanced International Affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
