Former Gardner-Webb softball standout Christa Fullwood returnedto her alma mater as the assistant coach, joining head coach TomCole’s staff in the fall of 2013.

Fullwood will be working primarily with the hitters and theinfield, as well as will help in every day operations such aspractices, conditioning and recruiting.

Fullwood, who was a two-time Big South All-Conference Teamselection (2009 & 2010) at GWU, returns to her alma mater afterspending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant coach atFrostburg State University.

In her two years on staff at Frostburg State, the Bobcats won 56games overall and made back-to-back CAC Championship gameappearances.  Last season in 2013, the Bobcats rolled to theECAC South Tournament Title, as Fullwood helped to tutor four NFCAAll-Region selections, one NFCA All-American, two ECAC First-TeamAll-Stars and one Capital One Academic All-American.

Fullwood was a standout student-athlete at Gardner-Webb from2007-10, as she re-wrote the softball career record books and tookhome numerous honors.  She finished her three-year career atGWU ranked first in career batting average (.380) and fieldingpercentage (.922), second in RBIs (107) and doubles (31), and thirdin home runs (20). 

The lefty also holds single-records in batting average (.460 in2009), total bases (106 in 2010), slugging percentage (.719 in2009) and walks (27 in 2010).

Fullwood was named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-RegionSecond-Team, the Big South All-Tournament Team and was a LowesSenior CLASS Award Finalist her senior season.

She was also named to both the Big South All-Tournament Team andthe NCCSIA Softball University Division All-State Team twice (2009& 2010), was a three-time NFCA Scholar-Athlete (2008, 2009& 2010), a two-time Big South All-Academic Team member (2009& 2010), a two-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member(2009 & 2010) and a 2008 Atlantic Sun All-Academic Teammember. 

Fullwood, who was a two-time GWU Offensive MVP (2009 &2010), was ranked in the top-10 nationally and in the Big Southwith a .460 batting average her junior season in 2009 and was alsonamed the GWU Female Athlete of the Year.

Prior to transferring to Gardner-Webb in 2007-08, Fullwoodplayed both basketball and softball at Mars Hill College as afreshman in 2006-07.  At Mars Hill, Fullwood was aDean’s List student both semesters and was named to the SouthAtlantic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Fullwood graduated from Gardner-Webb in May of 2010 with adouble major in Psychology and Sociology, finishing with acumulative 3.69 GPA.

She recently just completed her Master’s degree inBusiness Administration at Frostburg State.
