Addie Picha joins the Gardner-Webb volleyball staff as assistant coach for the 2021-22 season.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Addie join the staff,” said GWU head volleyball coach Eric Plunkett.  “Addie brings such a positive, competitive energy to the gym and I have no doubt that the athletes will feed off that energy.  Beyond her amazing playing career and abundance of volleyball knowledge, Addie is an even better person.  I look forward to working with her in the season to come.”

Picha joins the Runnin’ Bulldogs after spending the previous season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of San Diego, where she was a four-year standout for the Toreros, as she was twice named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American honorable mention and West Coast Conference (WCC) All-Conference First Team.  Picha was also selected to the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team-Detroit roster in 2018.

As a middle blocker, Picha finished her career at San Diego tied for third all-time in hitting percentage (.365), fourth in total blocks (452) and block assists (346) and seventh in solo blocks (106).

The Puyallup, Wash. native helped lead the Toreros to the regional semifinals in the 2018 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship her senior year, leading the team in attack percentage (.389), blocks (166), and blocks per set (1.48).

Picha played beach volleyball at the University of Washington as a graduate transfer in 2020 and also brings coaching experience at the club level, having spent time with Coast VBC in San Diego, Calif. and DaKine Volleyball Club in Bellevue, Wash.
