James Crotty joins the Gardner-Webb Athletics Administrative Team as a Graduate Intern. Crotty will serve as the liaison for internal and external operations as well as the ticketing request contact for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
A finance major at the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Cameron School of Business, Crotty distinguished himself both inside and outside the classroom, earning Dean's List recognition over six semesters while maintaining a 3.66 GPA. He was also selected as one of only 18 students to serve on the Cameron School of Business Dean's Advisory Council and participated in the Cameron Executive Network mentorship program.
Prior to his arrival at Gardner-Web, Crotty served as an Administration and NIL Assistant Intern with UNCW Athletics, Crotty working alongside the department's leadership to support daily operations while educating student-athletes on Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities and compliance. His role also included coordinating projects across communications, business operations, marketing, and donor relations to improve departmental collaboration and enhance the student-athlete experience.
In addition to his administrative experience, Crotty played an integral role in facilities and event management for UNCW Athletics, where he was selected as one of only 18 student leaders among a staff of 55 employees. His responsibilities included overseeing game-day operations, facility management, and event execution while leading student staff in delivering high-quality experiences for athletes and fans.
Crotty also brings a strong background in marketing and digital media. As Social Media Marketing Manager for White Duck Taco Shop, he developed and executed a comprehensive content strategy that increased social media reach by 127 percent and engagement by 97 percent through targeted storytelling, analytics, and brand-focused campaigns.
Crotty founded the UNCW Sports Management Club to connect students with professionals across the sports industry and create opportunities for career development, networking, and education. He continues to lead the organization's growth while fostering meaningful conversations about the evolving business of sports.
