Matt Parker enters his second season as the volunteer assistant for the men's tennis program at Gardner-Webb University in 2019-20, having helped guide the Runnin' Bulldogs to their first Big South Conference regualr season championship in the spring of 2019.

A former player for the 'Dogs, Parker graduated with an Economics/Finance degree from Broyhill School of Management in 2013. In addition to completing his degree, he was recognized by Gardner-Webb's business department, receiving the annual Economics award, which acknowledges students who have shown exceptional work both in and outside the classroom. 

As a member of the 2009-2013 Gardner-Webb men's tennis squads, Parker primarily saw action in the doubles lineup, where he teamed up with Ernest Alberch (Class of 2015) for a combined conference record of 5-7 over two seasons. In singles action, Parker was crowned the 2012 Flight-3 Champion at the Winthrop Fall Invitational after going undefeated and earning wins over JD O'Brien of Winthrop WU (6-0, 6-0), Joseph Barco of  Campbell (6-2, 6-2), Garrison Kinney of Campbell (6-0, 6-2) and Winthrop's Michael Chen (6-2, 6-4). 

After enjoying his last two seasons (2011-13) as co-team captain, Parker spent one year at the The University of Bath (UK), where he was worked on his master's degree in Economics. Parker has since then excelled in the business world and is the co-founder of ClearWater Recruiting, an Atlanta-based staffing firm which focuses on providing tech-companies with high performance sales-talent.
