Covil arrives at Gardner-Webb after spending a year at Limestone University as the Coordinator for Media Relations, overseeing all social media, rosters, statistics and serving as a media liaison for nearly a dozen programs in NCAA Division II.
Previously, Covil spent a year at Anderson University as a broadcast assistant where he worked as play-by-play commentator for soccer, basketball and softball games throughout the year.
Prior to his time at Anderson, Covil spent time in the sports tourism industry, working for both the City of Greenville and the City of Rock Hill, helping as event staff on major events such as AAU national basketball and volleyball tournaments, various college basketball and volleyball conference tournaments, as well as youth and adult rec league sports, among other events.
A graduate of Winthrop University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, Covil worked various jobs in the Winthrop athletic department including as a marketing and social media intern, broadcast assistant and event staff for the Big South Volleyball and Women's Basketball tournaments during his time as a student
