Taylor Anderson

Taylor Anderson is in his first season with the Gardner-Webb University program, and will coach the team’s inside linebackers in 2018, inheriting a position group that is traditionally one of the Gardner-Webb program’s strongest.

Anderson joined the coaching staff prior to spring practice after spending one season as an assistant coach at nearby Limestone College. He mentored the secondary in 2017, with his defensive backs helping the Saints pick off eight passes, break up 38 more and limit opponents to less than 200 yards passing per game.

Prior to his stint in Gaffney, Anderson coached at Division II power Valdosta State as a graduate assistant. He worked with the Blazers linebackers, helping that squad to an 8-2 record and a second-place finish in the Gulf South.

Valdosta State led the nation with 27 interceptions in 2016 and finished sixth in turnovers gained. The Blazers also ranked 15th nationally in defensive touchdowns, third in third down conversion defense and fifth in pass efficiency defense – sparking a Division II playoff appearance.

Anderson earned All-America honors during his playing career at North Greenville, posting a career-high 123 tackles in 2014. He started his coaching career with the Crusaders, serving as an intern during the 2015 season. Anderson also took on an internship with the Clemson football Strength & Conditioning staff.

He graduated with a degree in sports management from North Greenville in 2016.
