Women's Tennis Falls to UNC-Wilmington, 4-0

Raleigh, N.C. - In their second match of the day the Lady Bulldogs tennis team faced off with the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs were shutout by the Seahawks, 4-0, as three individual matches were not completed.
The GWU tandem of Amy Beavers and Laura Kriett were downed by Molony and Roberts of UNCW, 8-3 at the No. 1 spot, while the team of Ellis and Walser fell by the same score at No. 2. UNC-Wilmington's Martin and Carlson at the No. 3 slot defeated sophomore Jenny Gomez and junior Carol Pancia, 8-2.
In singles action, GWU's Walser fought hard in her match against Kayla Schwenk of UNCW at the No. 2 position, losing the first set 6-3 before coming back to win the second set 7-6 (5). Schwenk held off a surging Walser to take the third set 6-1 and the match.
The other two singles bouts that were completed were the No. 3 and No. 5 slots, where both Kasey Ellis and Amy Beavers fell to their UNC-W foes in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The Lady Bulldogs (0-2) will return to the courts for competition this Saturday, January 27, when they will travel just down the road to face off with the Davidson Wildcats. The match is scheduled to start on 11 a.m.
